Revised 5/9/08
TOURNAMENT RULES
Sacred Heart Booster Club Softball Tournament
Bill Burke Park, May 17 and 18, 2008
1. Amateur Softball Association (A.S.A.) rules apply.
2. Coin flip will determine home team and official scorer for all divisions. The home team is in charge of running the scoreboards and returning score sheets to the tournament headquarters after each game.
3. Each team supplies one A.S.A. regulation softball per game.
4. If respective field is running ahead of time, games could start earlier than posted on the schedule. This helps keep the tournament moving on time.
5. All age divisions are scheduled to play seven inning games, although no new innings begins after 75 minutes. The 12-run rule applies after 3 innings, 10 runs after 4 innings and 8 runs after 5 innings. The international tie-breaking rule will be used for bracket and championship games. In the 10-under division, there will be a six-run limit per inning, with the seventh inning being open.
6. During pool play, if a game is tied after seven innings or the 75-minute time limit, it will be declared a tie. To determine winners in pool play, runs allowed will be used to break three-way ties and head-to-head competition for two-way ties. If teams are still tied, runs scored is the next tiebreaker. Wins are worth one point and ties are a half point.
7. Championship games are scheduled for seven innings (no time limit), but run-rules apply. There will be a 75-minute time limit for third-place games.
8. Coaches must supply birth certificates of players if need arises.
9. Coaches report to the tournament headquarters before their first games if they have any questions.
10. Please have your team and fans support the concession stand. This is a fundraiser for the activities programs at Sacred Heart Jr./Sr. High School. Good luck to all teams and have a great tournament.
NOTE: 4 Passes will be sent to team contact person for the coaches.
